Compostable trash bags are a great way to bring compostables and food waste to the compost facility. The natural material of these World Centric compostable bags allows heat and moisture to escape or evaporate. This means that food waste stored in these bags will stay fresher longer on its way to the compost facility. This reduces bad smells in your facility, caused by bacteria building up in traditional plastic bags that do not “breathe.”

Many companies now offer so called biodegradable trash bags that are actually not biodegradable. There is recent university research that evaluated the various additives added to the plastic to supposedly make so-called biodegradable garbage bags compostable. As it turns out, the additives are ineffective.

The products we sell actually are compostable garbage bags. They have been certified by the Biodegradable Plastics Institute and meet ASTM D6400 specification. They are made from a blend of PLA and synthetic polymers which composts in 3-6 months, leaving no residue.
